Clinical evaluation of Pinaverium bromide (Dicetel^(®)) in patients with irritable bowel syndrome

Abstract

|
To evaluate the clinical effect of pinaverium bromide (Dicetel®) on irritable . bowel syndrome, 43 patients were treated with 50mg of pinaverium bromide T.I.D. for 2 to 4 weeks.
In 23 patients (65%), symptoms were completely resolved and 12 patients(28%) markedly improved. Overall ameliorating rate was 93% and minor side effects were observed (1 case of anorexia and 1 case of mild sleepiness). Pinaverium bromide is selective antispasmolytic agent without anticholinergic side effects and highly recommendable in the treatment of patients with irritable bowel syndrome.
